Quiz 1 Image On Sunday 8th March, about thirty bright-eyed, optimistic Shul members and friends descended upon a now snow-free Clophill Village Hall for the yearly Shul quiz. We split into four teams - Bedfordshire Bandits, Mish-Mash, 50-Plus and Short Circuit.
Once again, the Corfans - Hilary, David and Sophie - did everything from writing the questions to checking scores and, with the help of Hilary Fox and David Young, put on a feast for hungry quizzers.
The questions were fun - no specialist questions this time; the food was good; and the atmosphere friendly and light-hearted. A big thank you to everyone who had a hand in staging it.
All in all it was a very good night out. If you're starting to feel sorry you missed it - there's always next year.

40th Anniversary - July 2008 3 Images Bedfordshire Progressive Synagogue recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. The celebration started with a Shabbat service attended by past members as well as past Rabbi, Lawrence Rigal and Rabbi Eli Tikvah Sarah representing Liberal Judaism. On Sunday afternoon past and present members socialised with local dignitaries and leaders from Liberal Judaism including the guest of honour Baroness Julia Neuberger DBE. Another Rabbi from the past, Rabbi Lionel Blue sent a goodwill message.
The Baroness was recently appointed as the Prime Minister’s Champion for Volunteering and her engaging talk focused upon the value of volunteering to build communities, noting that BPS is run entirely by volunteers.
Other attendees included the Mayor of Luton, the local MP, the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire and representatives from local Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Quaker communities as well as the chairs from Luton Hebrew Congregation and Milton Keynes Reform synagogue and Nigel Cole, Chairman of Liberal Judaism.
To mark the occasion BPS Chairman David Young presented Baroness Neuberger with a book by Judith Grunfeld, which recounts the tale of 450 Jewish children who were evacuated to Bedfordshire in 1939.
